Meet Our Pastor, Dr. C.William Joyner, Jr.
Dr.
C. William Joyner, Jr., son of late Reverend Clarence W. and Ruth E.
Joyner, Sr., was born in 1947, in Georgetown, SC. In 1980, Dr.
Joyner was called by God to teach His word. Being obedient to God’s
word, Dr. Joyner has been teaching and preaching God’s word for more
than twenty years.
Dr. C. William Joyner, Jr., Pastor of the Broadway Baptist Church,
Augusta, GA is CEO of South Augusta Community Development
Corporation, Co-Founder of United Neighborhood Federal Credit Union,
Founder of South Augusta Pastor’s Alliance, a Licensed Clinical
Christian Counselor, a licensed Supervisor for BBC Certified
Accredited Institution for Christian Counseling, Supervisor
International Seminary Extension Classes and Board Certified
Pastoral Counselor, AACC International Board of Christian
Counselors.
Educationally, Dr. Joyner has earned a Bachelor of Science degree
from the University of The State of New York, a Bachelor of Theology
and a Masters of Ministry in Christian Counseling from International
Bible Institute. He has earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Christian
Psychology degree from International Seminary and a Doctor of
Philosophy in Clinical Christian Counseling degree from Cornerstone
University.
Dr. Joyner served in the United States Army as an Instructor and
Communications Supervisor. Other work experience include: Senior
Inspector and Training Coordinator for Georgia Power, Chaplain at
South Carolina State College, Behavior Modification Coordinator for
District Five Schools, and Human Resource Manager for Family Health
Centers, Inc.
Dr. Joyner is a certified Professional Family Counselor for the
American Association of Family Counselors, a Certified Building
Family Strengths Facilitator for the South Carolina Council on
Family and a Certified NLP Practitioner.
Dr. Joyner’s organization affiliations include Past Master-Prince
Hall Masons, President of NAACP, Orangeburg, South Carolina, Past
Vice-President Counsel Association with the Betterment of Columbia
County, Member of the Board of Directors of the Mental Health
Attention Home, Member of the Task Force (The People Assault on
Drugs), Member of the South Carolina Brotherhood Missionary
Executive Board and Past Chairman of the Board of Directors of the
Edisto Home.
Dr. Joyner’s special awards include: Outstanding Personnel Training
Award, Army Commendations, Human Relations Award, Journalism Award,
Outstanding Instructor Award, Outstanding Citizen of the Year Award
in 1994 presented by the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., Certificate
of Appreciation in 1995 presented by Blacks in Government Greater
Augusta Area Chapter, a Distinguished Community Service Award in
1996 presented by the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and a 2004
CSRA Classic Trailblazer Award.
Dr. Joyner and First Lady Vermell Smalls Joyner are the proud
parents of four children: Derrick, LeKesha, Clarence III, and Nicole
and the grandparents of seven.
